The Alliance:

Enmity:

The first book of the Alliance series.

What is the Alliance?

It is a conglomerate of 5 races that occupy a section of space that includes over 50 star systems. It is run by The Regent through his Nein.

In this book, the first human Nein (Fiona) introduces the Alliance to the human Federation. The humans are not pleased that they are not at the top of the food chain anymore, that their laws mean nothing in the Alliance, and that they can’t just take over the whole thing.

Humans are not the good guys in these books. Not all of them are bad, but humans didn’t leave their prejudices behind when they went into space, just transferred them. If you are within a certain degree of human you are golden, but if not…well, expect to be exploited and considered third class.

The Regent:

Who or what is the Regent?
The nearest analogy would be a computer.
But he is so much more than that.
The Regent maintains the five homeworlds, the fifty-five outposts, and the numberless dregs as well as the Net.

The Dregs are mobile units of the Regent.

They are oval/ round in shape.
All Dregs are linked to the Regent and provide instant access to him
Nein uses them as interfaces with the rest of the Alliance.

The Net protects Alliance space

It constantly scans and notes ships that enter Alliance space
The Regent may use it to disable enemy ships

The Nein:

Pronounced (Nin)

They are the living arm of the Regent

These beings are humanoid in appearance: a head, two arms, and two legs. However, the features are blurred as if the skin is made of wax and not finely sculptured. There is also a metallic sheen to the skin that glitters at different angles.

The Nein are linked through special nanites to the Dregs and through them to the Regent. We few humans who have joined the Alliance are considered Nein as we have the same nanites

We are the law enforcement, military, liaisons, and healers of the Alliance.

The Races:

To save time I have referenced the Terran Species that each race resembles physically
Intellectually they are equal to or surpass human intelligence

*The Noir

This race physically resembles the Terran species referred to as cats.
They are uniformly white with yellow or green eyes
The eye color is sex-related–males yellow/females green
Noirian paws are three-toed and manipulatable and when seated they are about four feet tall.

*The Bey

This race physically resembles the Terran Octopus
They do not have suction cups per se but ripples and the six appendages are very manipulatable
Four of the appendages are required for walking on land
The Beyan skin may remain dry for six hours before it becomes a problem

*The SSSh

This race physically resembles the Terran centipede with 3 fingered hands at the end of their legs.
They are uniformly black and the size of a Terran bear at about five feet tall upright..
The SSSh are farmers by trade

*The Hain
This race resembles the Terran kinkajou
They are a khaki color with dark green eyes
When seated they are about 3 and a half feet tall.

They do not like to be filmed/videoed

The fifth race is the Nein.
